Update on Downtown Lane Closures & Detours: March 31 - April 11, 2025

Several infrastructure projects are still underway in and around the downtown core. Please plan ahead, as upcoming roadwork may affect your daily commute. Below are the key lane closures and detours scheduled in our area from March 31 to April 11, 2025.

Road Closures and Detours Update:


  1. Ongoing through winter: the westbound right lane of the 4 Ave flyover will be closed (one lane opened).

  2. Ongoing until April 30, 2025: Mission Bridge full closure between Elbow Drive S.W. and Roxboro Drive S.W.

  3. Ongoing until June 27, 2025: 4 Ave S.E. two right lanes at 1 St S.E. closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily (three lanes open).

  4. January 6 – April 6, 2025: 6 St S.W. at 5 Ave S.W. two right lanes and east sidewalk closure 24/7 for ENMAX work (one lane open).

  5. February 18 - May 2: 5 Ave S.W. between 2 St S.W. and 1 St S.W., the two right lanes will be closed for ENMAX manhole repairs (three lanes open during peak periods).

  6. February 17 – June 21: Centre St S. between 8 Ave & 9 Ave two-way traffic on east side of road for ENMAX vault replacement (two lanes open).

  7. March 24 – May 3: 9 Ave S.E. between 1 St S.E. and Macleod Tr, the north curb lane and sidewalk will be closed for ENMAX vault replacement.

  8. March 28 – 30: 8 Ave S.W. will be closed between 6 St S.W. & 7 St S.W.

  9. March 29 – 30: 1 St S.E., the two left lanes will be closed between 14 Ave S.E. & 15 Ave S.E. (two lanes remain open).

  10. March 30: 5 St S.W. will be closed between 3 Ave S.W. & 4 Ave S.W. from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

  11. April 5 – 7: 4 Ave S.W., the two right lanes will be closed between 7 St S.W. & 8 St S.W.

  12. April 6 – 12: Eastbound on 3 Ave S.W. will be closed between 5 St S.W. & 4 St S.W.


Festivals and Events (not in map):


• April 25: Parade of Wonders

  • 13 Ave will be closed between 2 St S.W. & Centre St.

  • 17 Ave will have two-way traffic open between Centre St & Macleod Tr.


Significant events & closures outside the downtown area (not in map):


  • February 17 – April 14: Eastbound Memorial Drive reduced to two lanes and speed reduction to 50km/h at Baines Bridge (turnoff from Memorial Dr to Zoo Rd/12 St N.E.).

  • March 24 – April 6: 10 St N.W. will be fully closed from 3 Ave N.W. to 5 Ave N.W.

  • March 24 – April 15: 1 St N.E. will be fully closed from Edmonton Tr to 6a St N.W.

  • March 31 – April 21: 20 St S.W. will be closed between 33 Ave S.W. & 34 Ave S.W.

  • April 11 – 13: Kensington Rd will be closed eastbound between 10A St N.W. & 11 St N.W.

  • April 13: 4 St S.W. between 8 Ave S.W. & 7 Ave S.W. the four right lanes will be closed.

  • April 13 – 14: Kensington Rd will be closed westbound between 10A St N.W. & 11 St N.W.

  • April 21 – June 30: The intersection at 20 St S.W. and 34 Ave S.W. will be fully closed.
